A new milestone

Introduction:

Clair has installed a Pulse Jet Bag Filter based on Optiwave Pulse Cleaning Technology (OWPC) for a leading cement manufacturer in India. The technical specifications of the bag filter for which the bag filter has been designed are given in  Table 1.

Since this is a cement mill bag house, following parameters have to be taken care of:

  • Volume of bag filter is high and the bag filter design has to be robust and modular
  • Duct profile from cement mill (VRM based) outlet to BF inlet has to be designed in such a way that there will be no accumulation of dust in the duct
  • Downstream equipment below RAL hopper has been designed with adequate margin so that there is no sudden surging of dust once the ID fan gets tripped due to power shortfall
  • The moisture content in the inlet gas is high and hence bag fabric has been carefully selected to handle the gas and dust properties
  • Since it is a cement mill application, the inlet dust concentration is very high and the inlet gas entry has to be designed accordingly to capture majority of the dust before reaching the filter bags
  • Bag filter is designed to achieve uniform gas distribution across the entire bag filter

Observations:

The bag filter was commissioned in 2021 and since it’s commissioning, the bag filter is operating successfully as per the designed parameters. The emission norm of ≤ 15 mg/Nm3 has been met after the commissioning of the bag filter.
