Innovative solution for a Coffee Client
Introduction:
Clair has successfully worked with a coffee supplier located in Andhra Pradesh for installing a flash dryer and process bag filter for drying & collecting the spent coffee powder. When processing food products, gentle operation is the key in order to avoid product deterioration and to maintain quality.
Clair supplied complete system to reduce the moisture content in spent coffee powder from 85% to 35%. The spent coffee will be initially fed to the dewatering screw press to separate the water from spent coffee. This step will reduce the moisture content in the spent coffee from 85% to 65%. From the dewatering screw press the spent coffee is then fed to a flash dryer.
Flash dryer was installed for the application, which involves drying of spent coffee powder from a moisture content of 65% to 35%, using hot air from the existing boiler exhaust fan. The spent coffee after dewatering process is fed to the flash dryer. The flash dryer handling capacity was 2 TPH (dry basis). After the moisture reduction, the spent coffee powder will be carried over to the bag filter to separate the spent coffee from hot air. The bag filter discharge material is fed to boiler feed bucket elevator by a series of screw conveyors.
