Wagon Tippler Application
Introduction:
In May 2020 we commissioned a bag filter for the wagon tippler application that unloaded coal, coke, pet coke, slag, lignite, gypsum, iron ore, limestoneand dolomite from the open type railway wagons. The loaded wagon from its central position on the tippler cradle, is driven by a hydraulic motor and the material in unloaded. The dust generated is captured in the bag filter. The design parameters are given in Table 1.
The manner in which the dust is removed from the fabric is crucial for the performance of the bag filter. If the dust cake is not adequately removed, the pressure drop across the system increases which affects the performance of the system. On the other hand, too many bag cleaning cycleslead to leakage of dusty gas through damaged bags if any. The selection of design parameters is crucial to the optimum performance of a bag filter system.
The bag filter provided in this case was of Pulse jet type.
