Flue Gas Treatment System (FGTS) is the process of removal of gaseous pollutants from the flue gases obtained from various combustion processes.\u00a0<\/p><p>We at Clair have various solutions to handle different gaseous pollutants &amp; particulate matter (PM).<\/p><ul style=\"display: none;\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Semi-wet reactor is one of the products that is used for pollutants like SOx and HCl. In this, the rotary atomizer injects Lime slurry for the process of neutralization. By application of counter current, the gas is converted to liquid. It forms small droplets that give an effective residence time for the reaction.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SNCR, is one of our customized processes for NOx emissions. Here post the combustion process, by reduction method in the Boiler Furnace, Urea is used optimally as a reagent to collect the NOx emissions.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our AC Injection equipment is used for the removal \/ collection of elements like Heavy Metals, Dioxins &amp; Furans. The reagent is injected into a specific temperature zone (850<sup>0<\/sup> to 1150<sup>0<\/sup> C) in the boiler. The process utilizes dry sorbent, typically hydrated lime, to neutralize acidic pollutants in the flue gas stream. Hydrated lime is injected directly in the FBS reactor and water is also injected into the FBS separately to obtain an operation close to the adiabatic saturation temperature. Flue gas enters the FBS reactor at the bottom, the flows vertically upwards through a venturi section and enters an upper cylindrical vessel. The height of the vessel is designed to accommodate the mass of bed material required to achieve the desired residence time.\n\nAll external inputs of re-circulating material, fresh sorbent and gas humidifying water are introduced to the gas on the diverging wall of the venturi. The process is easy to maintain and operate because it does not require high maintenance mechanical equipment such as abrasion resistant slurry pumps, water atomizers or sludge dewatering devices.\n\nThe operating premise of the technology is to bring together high levels of solid re-circulation, finely atomized water, hydrated lime and flue gas within a fluidized bed scrubber. Lime products and finely atomized water are injected independently into the FBS to lower flue gas temperature and enhance absorption capacity. The fluid bed material is comprised of solids, including calcium hydroxide, fly ash from the combustion process, and solid reaction products from the flue gas particulate collection. The semi-wet system consists of a reactor, followed by bag filter, ID fan and stack. The reagent used to neutralize the acidic pollutants in the gas is first mixed with water to make a solution. The reagent solution is then passed to the reactor.\u00a0 The flue gas enters the semi-wet reactor through a spiral-shaped flue gas inlet channel. A rotary atomizer is located at the top of the semi-wet reactor. This atomizer guarantees atomization of reagent solution and cooling water into fine droplets to create the best contact and temperature conditions for the neutralization of the acid pollutants. The reaction products formed in the reactor are carried downstream to a bag filter. In between the reactor outlet and bag filter inlet, powdered activated carbon is injected in the flue gas flow to absorb heavy metals, dioxins and furans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Part of the reaction products is removed from the gas flow at the reactor bottom and will be extracted via the lower cone of the residue storage and handling. The Wet FGTS system consists of Open Spray Tower (OST) which generally uses hydrated limestone slurry as reagent. Spray tower has an advantage that consists of spraying nozzles which are arranged in such a manner that no build ups of material happens. The tower has no internals that can cause plugging and lead to reduction in performance over time. The system can operate in wide variety of gas flow.\n\nFlue gas is conveyed from the source (boiler) to the absorber inlet and after treatment, the gases are directly discharged to the atmosphere. In the spray tower, the flue gas will come in contact with the reagent in counter flow manner; the reagent is injected by suitable spray nozzles properly designed for slurries. Two or more injection levels are provided, each one or together connected to re-circulating pumps.\n\nThe acidic pollutants will be captured by the droplets coming from the spray nozzles. The spray nozzles are properly arranged in order to create uniform clouds of droplets in between the spray layers and inside the spray tower. The gas is forced to pass through such droplet clouds so that the acidic pollutants are captured by the water and reach the absorber bottom where sulphites (CaSO<sub>3<\/sub>) could be completely oxidized to sulphates (CaSO<sub>4<\/sub>) by the fresh air injected in the bottom tank with root type blowers. In order to avoid gypsum (by-product) build up, the bottom tank is provided with agitator mixers. The flue gases carry residues from incomplete combustion and a wide range of pollutants. The pollutants and their concentration depend on the composition of the waste incinerated and the combustion conditions. Ash, heavy metals, and a variety of organic and inorganic compounds can be found in varying quantities<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pollutants are present in the form of particles (dust) and gases such as HCl, HF, and SO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Some harmful compounds such as mercury, dioxins, and NOx can only be fully removed by applying advanced chemical treatment technologies.<\/span><\/p><p><b>SNCR FOR NOx REDUCTION<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SNCR process is a post combustion NO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reduction method that reduces NO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the controlled injection of an Urea [CO(NH<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">] solution into the flue gas flow to dissociate NO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into nitrogen gas and water vapour. The reducing agent is injected into the specific temperature zone (850<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to 1150<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> C), where with proper mixing and adequate residence time for the reduction reaction to occur, NO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is converted to harmless molecular nitrogen.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the reduction of NOx a 40% urea solution is used as reagent. This solution is prepared in a mixing tank by dissolving urea powder in de-mineralised water, and is then transferred to an storage tank. The injection is done in the first empty pass of the boiler. The urea solution is atomized in the nozzles with air from a local blower. The process of urea preparation, transfer, storage and dosing is described together with the atomizing air supply as SNCR system.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>FLUE GAS HANDLING FOR GASEOUS POLLUTANTS<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exhaust flue gases from boiler are led directly into Semi-Wet Reactor. The semi-wet reactor is responsible for the main removal of acids (SO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, HCl &amp; HF). The flue gas coming from the boiler contains fly ashes, the above-mentioned harmful gaseous components and dioxins, furans, heavy metals, mercury &amp; its compounds and others. This flue gas enters the semi-wet reactor through a spiral-shaped flue gas inlet channel. The rotary atomizer is located in the roof of the semi-wet reactor, which atomizes the lime milk and cooling water into fine droplets to create the best contact and temperature conditions for the neutralization of the acid pollutants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solid residue is entrained with the flue gas into the downstream bag filter. Part of the residue is removed from the gas flow at the reactor bottom and will be extracted via the lower cone to the residue storage and handling.
